There are three current stoppages this week that may have impact on freight movements as outlined below.
Fremantle Ports have been unable to avert the planned industrial action by their employees and commencing at 05:30am this morning the Fremantle Ports, Port Services Officers in the Inner Harbour began protected industrial action. This will potentially affect the berthing and sailing of vessels for a period of up to six days.
As with the similar industrial action several weeks ago Fremantle Ports intend to use the operational managers and administrative staff to perform mooring functions. Whether this allows to port to function properly will remain to be seen and may depend upon any escalation of picket lines.
