In a recent media release by Container Transport Alliance Australia, of which ACA International is a member, it is again highlighting the critical problems with congestion of empty containers in the port of Melbourne (0115 - CTAA - Media Release - Melbourne Empty Container Congestion - Added Delays & Costs)
We would advise appropriate planning for empty container collections and potential costs being incurred. Trucking companies are having to hold empty containers and reschedule de hire at a later point and are incurring lifting, holding and additional cartage costs that they are passing onto ACA International. ACA will continue to work to avoid these fees but unfortunately trucking companies are passing these fees on and ACA International will need to pass these onto the importer.
