Shipping lines have announced a blank sailing program in July as a result of lower market demand and a way to reduce the supply in the market with the view of increasing freight rates.
CAT, A3C, NEAX, CAE/A1X (APL/EMC/HMM) will have blank sailing as below:
CAT blanking in week 28 ETD SHA 8 July
A3C blanking in week 29 ETD SHA 18 July
NEAX blanking in week 29 ETD SHA 17 July
CAE/A1X blanking in week 30 ETD SHA 22 July
In addition to this, Maersk has advised the suspended YOYO/AAS (Newsletter 639 - Maersk to Suspend YOYO Service) will be extended into July and mid-August. It was originally intended to resume in July.
Maersk, MSC and Hamburg Sud will continue to take slots from COSCO/ANL/OOCL on the A3 loops and other consortiums while the service remains suspended.
As mentioned above one of the the objectives of the blank sailing program is to support the increase of freight rates which is why the shipping lines have also announced a GRI of USD300 per 20’ and USD600 per 40’ from 1 July from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
We will keep you informed of any further news on rates and changes to sailings as they occur.
