Port of Lyttelton Industrial Action Continues

The ongoing dispute as a rseult of failed negotiations on a new collective agreement between the Lyttleton Port Company (LPC) and the Rail and Maritime Transport Union (RMTU) has resulted in a notice to strike from the RMTU being issued for 20-24 April inclusive.

Maersk have advised that the Lica Maersk 825S/N ETA LYT 21 April will be affecetd but have delayed their decision to omit Lyttelton until 18 April.  Customers may need to protect their interests and make arrangements to load their export cargo from other ports, without waiting until the decision deadline. If they have to omit Lyttelton, import cargoes will be discharged at Port Chalmers off Lica Maersk, for customers to take delivery at Port Chalmers.

Our Customer Service team will be in contact with any customers affected by the strike and make associated contingency arrangements.
